Killed in Action on 6th November 1917

Buried at Pont-Du-Hem Military Cemetery, France on 10th March 2022, following an investigation and subsequent identification by the MOD War Detectives. More details can be found under the World War 1 section.


Awarded the DCM for gallantry during an enemy attack.

The London Gazette of 26th January 1918 states;

"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. Re-organising part of his company, which had become detached, he led them forward and regained touch with the main body, and afterwards with four privates he attacked and captured an enemy strong point and killed the garrison. He showed fine qualities of resource and initiative."
